OLLIE

Ollie is special. I’m told he is a ‘Puggle’; Half Beagle, half Pug. He came from a puppy mill and never had a real “puppyhood”, just a cage, but he’s making up for it. He’s come a long way. God don’t forget his toy. It’s a blue ball with a red tail on it. Also he’s loves a soft blanket to lay on. He may mush it up to his suiting, but he’ll sleep on it for hours. I would’nt pick him up, it scares him. Cars beeping on TV get him barking, weird noises get him going, but I just tell him he’s a good boy and maybe a “Cut it out!” or just be stern. He’s like a kid. Try not to let him get too excited, but don’t manhandle him or force him in any way, that scares him. He’s sweet. It’ll take a long time and patience for him to trust you. When he’s ask if he wants to go out, he starts playing with his ball. Patience, he’ll let you know when he’s ready. He’ll stand next to the door and pace. Just open the bedroom door and ask if he’s playing with the ball. I let him out into the fenced in yard, but I watch & wait for him from just inside the door. I can’t leave him alone for long or he’ll start barking and you can count on my neighbor to call the township or dog warden. The neighbor going up the hill is a real bitch!
Ollie eats Nutro Natural Choice Small Bites Adult Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe Dry Dog Food. and I let him finish my oatmeal. He also loves pasta in or out of red sauce or just about anything. He can be left alone for long stretches in his room, on the bed. When doing his business, he must be in a fenced yard cause he’ll take off if you just let him out. Keep the gate closed. Trust me on this, he won’t listen to you, he’s gone. He’s neutered and he is vaccinated for rabis for 2 years from September 2023. The proof is in my fire box. His vet is Homestead Veterinary Center in Jonas, PA Not far. (570) 620-0529. They say they can fix the cherry eye, but there’s a decent chance it’ll just relapse.
I think this why he was passed around and caged as a pup. He barks in a kennel cage, but is well behaved in his bedroom at home.
I figure he’s pushing 5 y/o in December 2023. He should’nt be with children. He might bite if they do stupid things to him. Ollie sleeps and hangs out in the small bedroom, with the computers, on the bed. You need to use a leash to take him anywhere other than the fenced in yard or he’ll run. Also, if he’s carrying around food, Don’t try to take it away from him, out of his mouth. Dogs are very possevive about food theve been given and will nip you, as most dogs will. So dount tempt your hand tu get nippid. Finders keepers. If he has it in his mouth, forget it, it’s his. Just don;t give him food and then renig by trying to take it back. Almost any dog will nip your hand for that.
Follow these rules and you’ll have a loving aweet dog, more like a playfull and loving ouppy who just want tocuddle up with you and the occassional kiss, You just have to learn his personallity, peacwfully. He’s worth it. Never scare him or manhandle him. Keep play gentle. Thats Ollie. He doesn’t like crates nor does he need one, He does like beds with cushy blankeks and his toy So if yiu must crate him, put a cushy blanked and his toy in the crate with him. Besides leftover oatmeal, lental soup and pasta (red sauce or marinara). Be aware of foods that are poisenous to dogs’which include Grapes/raisens, chocolote, their are others not listed here. Please do a Google if you;re not sure. With time you’ll learn his personality. Think escentric playfull puppy with thoughtfull delayed reactions. He’ll let you know when he has to go out. Once out He’s quick to pee but slower to poop. He’s a small dog who eats premium dry food, so his stools are quite small, dry and managable and their are long hanled scooper tools out back in the yard.
